Design DNA is a Chrome extension that analyzes the visual design system of the webpage you choose. Its analysis runs locally in your browser. Design DNA does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data or webpage content.
Information handled during analysis
After you open the extension and click Analyze Website, Design DNA temporarily reads information from the active tab that is necessary to create the requested design-system summary. This can include the page URL and title, visible element labels, and computed visual styles such as colors, fonts, spacing, borders, radii, shadows, buttons, inputs, and cards.
This information is processed locally and is not collected by the developer.
Data collection, storage, and retention
Design DNA does not create user accounts, use analytics or tracking technologies, maintain databases, or store analysis results. Results exist only in the extension popup for the current session and are discarded when the popup is closed or refreshed.
Data sharing and sale
Design DNA does not sell, rent, transfer, disclose, or share personal information or webpage data with the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party. It does not use data for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to its single function.
Extension permissions
activeTab
Provides temporary access to the webpage that is active when you intentionally run an analysis. Design DNA does not monitor tabs or access browsing history in the background.
scripting
Allows the extension to inject its packaged analyzer into the active webpage after you click Analyze Website. The analyzer reads rendered styles and returns the summary to the extension popup.
Remote code
Design DNA does not use remote code. All executable JavaScript is included in the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store. The extension does not download, evaluate, or execute external scripts, WebAssembly, or code delivered by a remote service.
Security and supported pages
Local-only processing reduces exposure of webpage information. Chrome also prevents Design DNA from running on protected pages such as Chrome internal pages and the Chrome Web Store.
Children’s privacy
Design DNA is a general-purpose developer and design utility. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
